FAQ
- Supported Vehicles
- Factory Five MKI, MKII, MKIII, MKIII
- Backdraft, Superformance - Windshield channel will have to be drilled at top center to allow screws to fit into windshield channel. Do not drill too deep into the windshield glass; only 1/8" depth needed.
- Lone Star, West Coast Cobra - Longer T-Top should be ordered. If windshield channel does not have a wider entry point at the top, the channel will have to be drilled at top center to allow screws to fit into windshield channel. Do not drill too deep into the windshield glass; only 1/8" depth needed.
-
Does the top come finished fiberglass, primed?
- The fiberglass has a white gel coat on the top part and no gel coat on the underside. Some prep work is needed to get the top in a paint ready state; some have said it took them 3 hours; a trained painter should require half that time.
-
How does the top attach in front? In back?
-
Front
- The front attaches to the top windshield channel using screws that fit into the channel. Factory Five and Superformance replicas include a slot in the center of the windshield that allows for screws to be inserted and slid in the channel. Backdrafts do not have a slot that allows for the screw to be inserted; you will have to make a slot by drilling or cutting a slot that screws can fit into, so they can slide within the channel. Do not drill or cut more than 1/8" or you risk drilling into and damaging the windshield.

Back
- The rear attaches to the top trunk area using RAM mount suction cups, independent of the roll bar.
-
Other ways I’ve seen others go with, because they didn’t want the suction to potentially damage their paint:
- attach a RAM Ball Base to the area behind the seat near the outer shoulder trunk wall. Longer RAM knuckles than the shorter ones I provide will be needed for this. I can provide info for what to order if you’d like.
- attach from the top RAM ball mount to a ball mount that attaches to the roll bars.

How long are the tops?
- A Factory Five/Backdraft and Superformance top is 34" long at the center of the top.
- A longer top for Lonestar Cobras is 38" long at the center of the top.
- Is the top stable at highway speeds? Below is a video that shows driving at highway/tollway driving speeds.
